Actress Natalie Portman said meeting Rihanna earlier this year helped her regain her spirit and confidence after her 12-year marriage broke down.
The Thor star , 43, met Rihanna, 36, at Paris Fashion Week in January. Natalie was going through a divorce from choreographer Benjamin Millepied at the time. The couple finalized their relationship in February.
The two beauties hugged each other outside the Dior Haute Couture show. In a video that went viral online, Natalie told Rihanna: “I love you.” The billionaire singer replied: “I’m a big fan of yours.” When Natalie appeared to be in disbelief, Rihanna said: “You’re one of the hottest girls in Hollywood. Forever. You’re so innocent. I don’t usually get excited about people like that, but you’re an exception. I admire you so much.”
Natalie wasn’t just happy with the Diamonds singer’s confessions , the actress said the meeting changed her spirit. “It was exactly what I needed. It was a defining moment in my life,” Natalie told Jimmy Fallon when she watched the video again. “She helped me so much and I’m forever grateful to her. Rihanna is the hottest.”
Natalia Portman has had a difficult year, with her husband rumored to be cheating and their marriage falling apart. Last June, French newspaper Voici.fr reported that choreographer Benjamin Millepied had an affair with 25-year-old climate activist Camille Étienne. The newspaper published evidence that the young woman had spent two hours at Natalie’s husband’s office in Paris.
Natalie remained silent about the scandal. She then removed her wedding ring and quietly filed for divorce in July. It was not until March of this year, when the divorce was finalized, that she confirmed the news to the public.
In June, when celebrating her 43rd birthday, Natalie Portman posted a series of photos of herself hanging out with friends with the caption: “This year, on my birthday, I want to express my gratitude to the friends who have supported me time and time again.”
A friend of the actress shared on People : “At first things were really difficult for Natalie, but her friends rallied around and helped her. Natalie went through a painful year but she overcame it strongly and is finding joy with family, friends and work.”

Natalia rose to fame as a young woman with her role as Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars series . She also stars in the superhero series Thor , opposite Chris Hemsworth. The actress met choreographer Benjamin Millepied on the set of Black Swan and their relationship blossomed. They married in 2012 and had two children together before separating.
